Croation Holiday Apartments - Vrsar Information

Vrsar is one of the major tourist centres on the west coast of Istria. The town with its newly refurbished marina lies between Porec and the Limski Canal and is home to 2650 inhabitants. As in many parts of Istria, both Croatian and Italian are spoken.

There are many very pretty islands, some of which are uninhabited and where the natural flora and fauna abound. The jagged coastline means plenty of hidden bays and small islands.

The area enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with 2300 hours sunshine on average per year.

There are many historical and cultural monuments to be seen around the town, such as the Roman fortification, the Church of Saint Martin, the Church of St Foska, the main town gate, the old Roman gate, the tiny church of Saint Anton and near the marina, the Basilica of St Maria of the Sea, as well as various fragments from the ruins of walls and gates of the old town

Of particular mention on the cultural scene is the International Summer School in sculpture at the Montraker quarry. During the summer season, there are many classical and jazz music concerts. There are also many festivals.

In addition to the usual array of water sports, in Vrsar, you can also take to the air and try your hand at parachute jumping, paragliding and aerial sightseeing tours. There is a small airport in Vrsar for such tours
